Macario Sakay, heir to Bonifacio's Tagalog Republic

Let us remember the heroism today, 103 years ago, of Gen. Macario Sakay, the tough, determined, "organization genius" of a Filipino patriot who continued the Katipunan & the anti-colonial mission of Gat Andres Bonifacio.

Deceived by the wicked imperialist American Gov.-Gen. into laying down arms, he & Col. Lucio de Vega were hanged on Sept. 13, 1907, 8:30 am.

Below is the trailer from Raymond Red's Sakay film.

Before he was hanged, Sakay managed to shout at the top of his lungs:

“I face the Lord Almighty calmly but we must tell you that we are not bandits and robbers as the Americans accuse us, but members of the revolutionary force that defended our country. Long live the Philippines! Adios Filipinas!”

  1. and i'm afraid only an overhaul can bring the philippines to a genuine straight path.

an overhaul that sets a good social system and ensures no untoward foreign influence factor in.

  2. TO: "Right, and more importantly leaders must possess that spirit of righteousness not only in words but also in deeds. Socio-political and economic system can only be as good as the people running the system."

JB: that can be at least partly addressed by bringing in ethical education into the system, toto.

  4. TAGA-ILOG News: Madami, nal. we can regard the leftists battling US imperialism as the new Sakays.

of course, we dislike their role in Edsa 2. i consider it a grave mistake of theirs. nonetheless, hindi matatawaran ang sakripisyo nila ala.Sakay and his men ...sa paglaban sa imperyalista.

  5. Jesusa Bernardo: well said, jm. i ponder on that not a few times--how miseducation, etc. made living "hail American!" zombies out of half or more of the Filipino population now.

imagine the colonial libel of "bandit" vs. heroic sakay having persisted & amer...ican atrocities & deception during the fil.am war largely unknown!

    ain't that crazy?

  7. Jesusa Bernardo tumpak.

kaso di pinapayagan ang ganyan ng mga dilawan.

makikita yan sa nangyaring di,kalaliman ngunit galing pa rin sa tao na edsa 3, ang mendiola massacre, etc.

  8. Jesusa Bernardo as i always say, a people always deserve the kind of government they have. that we allow those yellows to plunder national coffers and trample upon democracy or the people's will, kasalanan din ng taumbayan.
