on Abortion

Jc de los Reyes

there is so much debate about abortion these days. direct abortion or willful killing of an innocent child should be a non-issue. it is not only wrong, it is evil...so, lets stop these foreign funding agencies and their local lackeys from meddling instead we harp on the Filipino's reverence for family and life and our desire to have a "respect-for-life attitude."

one of the reasons women do abortions is because they are made to carry all the social stigma from having out.of.wedlock children. if society can make men equally accountable for making babies, then i'm pretty sure the no. of abortions will go down.

make the males accountable for their sexual activities and their consequences as much as the females, that's a more effective solution source-level solution.

I agree with you JB, totally but let me qualify.
"the hand that rocks the cradle rules the world" - wallace.
In the order of authority, (at least conservatively) men/husbands/fathers/ priests/pastors have to assume a greater responsibility but in the order of love, it is the woman/wife/mother/daughter that are divinely endowed with the expertise (to love) .

wife of leonides king of sparta retorted perfectly when representative of xerxes condescendingly said "what makes you think you could speak among men?...she said, "because its only spartan women that give birth to real men!" What takes precedence a good man or a good woman? its like the chicken and egg question. My answer is, a good woman. not until we realize the great mission of Filipina mothers, we will have a scarcity of real leaders. its the mothers who really mold great boys to be great men!...thus accountable men.

      thanks, sir Jc.
i also agree with your insight re the spartan king and queen. yes, the mothers mold their children to a large extent during the rearing/nurturing phase. Filipina mothers sure play a big role in the making of future male (and female) leaders of the land.

i think the propagandists esp. marcelo h. del pilar, if i'm not mistaken, spoke of the dangers of having ignorant, gullible-before-the-friars
women because of their role in educating/molding/enlightening their children.

      Jesusa Bernardo
      hi grace.
that both parents have equal legal/moral rights & obligations/privileges at best only applies to children of married/united couples.
for children born to single, unmarried women, that is hardly the case here in the country and perhaps elsewhere.

yes, children SHOULD be a product of love. but, as a realist, that's hardly the case for many filipino males here who think they have nothing to lose so they go f.. around and care not kung makabuntis sila.

in short, as long as our society keeps blaming the women for everything, even if it takes to tango, two to make babies, abortion not be helped solved
