"Bishop Ramento of the IFI (Philippine Independent Church) was murdered inside his parish house last 3 October 2006. He is known to be a bishop of the poor and an advocate of peasant and workers rights and for peace based on justice.

"[Bishop Remento] was an ardent supporter of the Hacienda Luisita strikers. He was also a very vocal and influencial critic of the Arroyo regime. In the period before he was killed, Bishop Remento was ardent at work in exposing, documenting and lambasting the spate of political killings, abductions and other gross human rights violations committed by the Arroyo regime. He was also a strong opponent of the Arroyo regime's "Cha-cha Express."'

naalala ko ito noon. when i first heard it, alam ko nang may political angle. but in the news, pilit na sinasabing robbery lang with homicide, na no political angle nga.

mpunity following the immoral edsa 2 power grab supported by the social and intellectual elites. how stupid and destructive of values and people's lives erap's unseating turned out to be.
