Lakambining Pilipina, Hindi Tisay

In the English language, Gregoria is a "native beauty."

Simply put, these types of Filipina beauties command the longest stares, the greatest admiration.

Much as this has been the seemingly 'natural' state of affairs in the Philippine Islands for centuries now, mukhang hindi yata tama na agrabayado ang katutubong lahi natin dahil hindi ba't nakalaya na daw tayo sa kuko ng mga kolonyal/imperyalista Kastila at Kano?

"Natural" to appreciate more the fair-skinned and mestizas but racism against one's own race is never natural. Accepting what the pale-skinned colonizers taught us--that their race is superior and ours is inferior--is crazy and pathetic.

Dagdag niya:

...this is not racism in its purest form. Filipinos are not so much discriminating on the basis of race as much as mere skin tone. Philippine society is very much segregated by skin color. The paler your skin the greater the level of success is available to you. Likewise, dark skin is a fast ticket to the bottom. Another writer on this topic comments on the fact that most of the idols of Philippine music and cinema are fair-skinned with sharp, European features. I noticed that myself.

Morgan added that "Unfortunately, one of the traits of Spanish Catholic cultures is to deny any faults and to become angry and defensive if somebody points them out."

Santiago Alvarez at Artemio Ricarte.

Hey, Uncle Sam, YOU made Bin Laden

 Updated May 6, 2011

THE UNITED States. celebrates the killing of Osama Bin Laden. Hey, did you Americans forget that your government MADE that "terrorist"?

Osama bin Laden deserves his end. He employed terrorism directed at civilians for his "freedom fighting" ideology. I especially thought he needed to be eliminated because of his role in supporting the evil former Taliban government in Afghanistan.

No doubt bin Laden was a demonic 'freedom fighter' who targeted civilians. But let us not forget that the Al Qaeda's/bin Laden's rise to terroristic power was a product of covert CIA intervention in Afghanistan during America's Cold War competition with the Soviet Union.

The U.S. had an important role in promoting Islamic extremism in its bid to gain hegemony against the Soviet Union in the 1980s. Some analysts even believe the security training of Bin Laden came no less than from the CIA. The Bald Eagle nation secretly battled the Soviet Union, which was propping up a pro-Soviet Kabul government, through the then recently Islamized neighbor, Pakistan. The U.S. used Pakistan to course aid to the mujahedeen fighters.
Between 1982 and 1990 the CIA, working with the ISI and Saudi Arabia’s intelligence service, funded the training, arrival, and arming of some 35,000 Islamic militants from 43 Muslim countries in Pakistani madrassas to fight the Soviets in Afghanistan,” said Rashid, who is also author of the non-fiction bestseller Taliban. This “was to sow the seeds of al-Qaeda and turn Pakistan into the world center of jihadism for the next two decades,” he added."
http://emu.edu/now/peacebuilder/2010/03/ history-matters-understanding-afghanista n-and-pakistan/

In other words, Bin Laden and his Al Qaeda group were at least partly a product of imperialist or Cold War U.S. policies. How come the U.S. virtually denies its role in the making of that monster by portraying bin Laden as an enemy without mention of their military collaboration in the past? Just hear Mr. Obama's famous broadcast a few days ago--there's absolutely no mention of their 'mistake' in helping create that monster. All we hear is that bin Laden was terrorist bla bla bla. What about the role of the bigger terrorist--all right, the "great nation"--in helping Osama's group become an international terrorist entity of September 11 caliber?

Suspect Timing: Failed NATO assassination in Libya?

Look at the timing, which was right after the very embarrassing news of a failed NATO 'assassinate Kadhafi' (no matter the denial) operation that killed the SON and GRANDCHILDREN instead. Rather conveniently, the Obama administration then came up with this Bin Laden's death news.
Government spokesman Moussa Ibrahim said: "The attack resulted in the martyrdom of brother Saif al-Arab Muammar Gaddafi, 29 years old, and three of the leader's grandchildren.
xxx
"This was a direct operation to assassinate the leader of this country," the spokesman added..
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-13251570

When did they really carry out the operation against bin Laden (or first learn of his death) in the first place and why flaunt it to the world now? Supposedly, the operation to kill bin Laden took place only the other day or so ago, according to mainstream Western news media. If true, the timing of the operations is nonetheless suspect and apparently designed to bury the news of the blatant assassination/interference in Libya involving Western attacks on  CIVILIANS.

At any rate, by supporting terrorist--future terrorists from their viewpoint--like Bin Laden, the U.S. ought to be honest to its citizens and the world by atoning for their hand in having made Bin Laden a terrifying, powerful terrorist as we know or even experienced him to be.

FYI, in the U.S.' first imperialist war--the Philippine-American war the Bald Eagle nation specifically punished the civilians via the inhumane reconcentration camps in the effort to flush out and emaciate our freedom fighters ("insurectos" in imperialist parlance). These reconcentration camps, at least those in Batangas, were described by one of the U.S. commandants as the "suburbs of Hell." Deaths from disease and hunger in those camps is said to have run high, some say up to 20%.

One reaction to the killing of Obama was by former head waiter of the Windows on the World restaurant in the North Tower of the World Trade Center, Fekkak Mamdouh. He says he is glad about Bin Laden's death supposedly because of him, "we got into two wars and killed a lot of people in Afghanistan and Iraq".

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-12307698

Susmeyo. George W. Bush blatantly lied to the American public when he claimed that Iraq's Saddam Hussein was supporting the Al Qaeda/Bin Laden in order to justify their war of invasion against the Iraqi people.

And how many more monsters did the U.S. create when it was to their "interests"? Amidst the history of American superpower domination  (or is it imperialist terrorism?) the U.S. policy is to use/ally with whoever serves its interests for the moment--no matter if these convenient allies target innocents or not--as well as their virtual creation of Bin Laden's network of operations, ain't the Bald Eagle at least somewhat terroristic as well?

Isang Larawan Naman Diyan, O

How come the U.S. government has failed to show not even one, as in ANY photograph of the operation. No picture of a dead bin Laden. Supposedly, in reaction to "conspiracy theories," U.S. officials are debating whether to belatedly release a "“gruesome” photo of the dead bin Laden, conscious that such an image would likely inflame strong passions in some Muslim countries." Really.  How silly and lame is that excuse.  They can't even show some shots taken from some distance or one with the "gruesome" parts selectively blurred?

And why didn't they bring in those embedded journalists, the practice being the U.S. government's S.O.P. since just about the Gulf War? Some behaved and trusted reporters could have been brought in and made to stay in a safe distance until Operation Geronimo has been successfully concluded so as not to compromise security. To put it simply, the bin Laden operation was so big that having no photo or no coverage is unforgivable. Or most suspicious.

Buried at Sea. Really?

Inilibing daw sa dagat. Ows?

he U.S. story goes like bin Laden's body having been  buried at sea. This is probably the best conspiracy-theory-triggering part of the bin Laden operation report. Why so fast as in less than a day and why give a man Obama condemned as a "terrorist who's responsible for the murder of thousands of innocent men, women, and children" a very proper Muslim burial? Alright, the U.S. wants to show to the Islamic world that it respects and religion. So, WHERE ARE THE PHOTOGRAPHIC EVIDENCE of bin Laden's supposed burial.

And why at sea? Do Muslims traditionally bury their dead at sea? Actually, according to authors Marc Gellman and Thomas Hartman, Muslim "Burial at sea is permitted only if it's unavoidable." What's so unavoidable about the circumstances of bin Laden's reported death. Won't a simple land burial been good enough? You know, a land burial that would have in the future facilitate some cadaver authenticity check....

Why Ping Lacson should say Sorry

Because of his September 14 privilege speech in which he gave a litany of accusations, including his claim that Erap was a "micro-manager," which seemed maliciously drawn up to pin his Dacer-Corbito murder case on President Joseph "Erap" Estrada.

"It is common knowledge that Lacson, who is supporting another opposition candidate, has asked Estrada to drop his presidential bid and endorse Liberal Party (LP) standard bearer Sen. Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino...."

Lacson takes revenge on Erap/09/15/2009
http://www.tribuneonline.org/headlines/20090915hed1.html

Lacson's Speech Links Erap to PAOCTF Operations

The direction of Lacson's September 2009 Senate speeches was clearly to move away from his own possible culpability in the Dacer-Corbito double murder. At least in his first privilege speech 'bombshell,' he stated that he was essentially not in control of his men at PNP and the PAOCTF because Estrada was giving them "direct orders and instructions [as he did] deep into the layers of the entire government bureaucracy."

This claim of Lacson seemed intended to effectively cast doubt on any testimony linking him to the murders and, instead, open the door towards directly linking Estrada to the crime. However, this possible angle, or attempt to redirect the case's investigations appeared to have been weakened by the testimonies of Erap's former Cabinet secretaries who belied the senator's claim, saying: "The Cabinet is one in observing and attesting that President Estrada was not a micro manager."
_______

Lacson Attempts to Pin Opportunity/Means on Estrada

As earlier mentioned, however, Lacson's September 14 privilege speech refuted this means & opportunity angle. By claiming that ex-Pres. Estrada was a micro-manager who personally directed people, including his PAOCTF and PNP men, he wanted it shown that he himself was not involved with his men's operations--which should include any involvement with the Dacer-Corbito case.

Lacson's claim that he was not actually the one on top of PAOCTF operations appears lame and uncorroborated. It has, in fact, been belied by Estrada's former cabinet secretaries who immediately came out to refute that point of the senator's privilege speech.
________

Witness Bagual

What could yet be the most damning testimony to prove that Lacson had the motive to have Dacer and Corbito killed can come from a new witness, Lymith Bagual. She said in an interview that she witnessed how Lacson berated Dacer back in November 2000 in a Batangas resort. Bagual claimed to have overheard a furious Lacson, who was seated beside Mancao, tell the calm Dacer: "You're not following what we agreed on. You'll get me in trouble." When Lacson stood up, he supposedly ordered one of his men to get Dacer out of the room but the PR man refused to budge as the driver made a remark to the effect that they'd rather fight to the death.

Lacson refuted the claim of Bagual whom he dubbed as "laundrywoman" during his Sept. 22, 2009 privilege speech. The senator claimed that Dumlao relayed to him that Mancao's lawyer, Atty. Topacio, asked help to convince the former PAOCTF officer to corroborate the new testimony. He also charged Estrada of being behind the quick production of the new witness and insinuated that Topacio was reporting to the former President.

Herein, Lacson seemed to have contradicted himself because a week before his second privilege speech attack against Estrada, he accused another May 2010 presidentiable Sen. Manny Villar and the Nacionalista Party of possibly being responsible for Bagual's appearance as witness.
(Excerpts from Who did Dacer & Corbito: Sen. Lacson, ex-President Estrada, or ex-President Ramos?

http://jesusabernardo.newsvine.com/_news/2010/02/20/3925374-who-did-dacer-corbito-sen-lacson-ex-president-estrada-or-ex-president-ramos)
______

"The senator said Villar could have used his influence on former Batangas governor Armando Sanchez for the latter to “produce" a new witness for the case. Lacson claimed that Sanchez “is a supporter" of Villar’s Nacionalista Party (NP)."

"“Ang nakita kong connection, Batangas. Doon sila madaling kumuha ng testigo … Baka nga ang labandera, kubrador yan eh (The connection I saw was Batangas. They could easily get a witness there. For all I know, this laundrywoman is just a bet collector there)," he said in an interview over dzXL radio. Sanchez is being linked by his political opponents to the illegal numbers game jueteng – an accusation that the former governor repeatedly denied."

But Villar’s camp brushed aside Lacson’s allegation. “The issue is so far-fetched. Tinatawanan na lang namin ‘yan (We just laugh it off). It’s untrue," Judith Sto. Domingo, NP media officer, told GMANews.TV on Saturday via text message.

http://www.gmanews.tv/story/172697/ping-accuses-villar-of-pinning-him-down-in-dacer-slay-case

Demonizing President Erap

Just basing it only from the statement of Estrada's cabinet secretaries, it is already clear that Lacson was lying in his ridiculous attempt to insinuate that it was the former President who was on top of the operations of the body implicated in the Dacer-Corbito murders, the PAOCTF, instead of him who was its chief. Lacson's blatant lies in his other accusations are revealed no less by him.

The principal suspect in the Dacer-Corbito case basically sums up his rhetoric against the President ousted through the EDSA II coup with these words: "God save the Philippines from Joseph Ejercito alias Joseph Estrada." Lacson's own actions betray the lies in his accusations.

Sabi nga ni Pangulong Erap: "“if I am that kind of person Senator Lacson has pictured me to be, and being a man of integrity he claims to be with only the public interest in his heart, he should have offered to resign his position more than 11 years ago if he truly disagreed with me as Vice-President, and eventually hated me as his Commander-in-Chief.”"

http://www.mb.com.ph/node/220728/erap-

"It cannot be denied that he asked and sought the support and endorsement of Estrada when he ran for the Senate in 2001, and again, in 2004 and yet again, in 2007, which Estrada gave, without any quid pro quo."

http://www.tribuneonline.org/commentary/20090917com2.html

For his revolting lies and defamation against President Estrada--the same man who helped him many times during his electoral candidacies--should he not ask forgiveness at the very least? Then again, perhaps that's asking for the sun and sky.

AN EDSA 3 RALLYIST'S STORY

Out of curiosity and peer invitation (SSEAYP), I went to EDSA Dos one day, but my heart really never wanted to oust ERAP. Eventually, EDSA DOS removed ERAP from Malacanang. I knew it was a BIG MISTAKE and my conscience bothered me for having gone there for just one day.

I attended EDSA-3 from April 23 to May 1, 2001, morning 'till night, until I got exhausted each cycle of day. I personally saw that it was participated in by 99% POOR masses who wanted the President they voted to be reinstalled. I was able to talk to many of them and everyone I spoke with really went there voluntarily without any pay-offs -- I can attest to this.

At 12 Midnight of April 30, 2001, the march to malacanang started. I was at the front-line during the march from Greenhills to Malacanang. I was wearing an orange construction helmet, green shirt, and black jeans. PMAP was at the front-line (though I am not one of them). I thought I saw Jude Estrada at the back (but not sure about it because that was an evening) about five rows from the front-line, he was wearing white shirt with a white towelete around his neck. The first clash with the police blockade in San Juan was rather easy. As we moved, teargas were fired at us. A guy beside me got shot in the chest. When we arrived in Malacanang, we passed through a military truck, no driver, but it has stones and pipes and sharp objects, as if it is readily provided for for the rallyist to pick.

May 1, 2001 at 5AM we arrived at the Malacanang gate, there was a priest/pastor who stood up and told us to just sit down and wait and be calm. So we all followed and we sat down and I was right there infront of the gate.

At 7AM, suddenly, the police threw stones at us the rallyists. Stones as big as twice the size of the fist. I personally saw rallyists got hit in the head, and they fall to the ground like logs. Horrifying! Instigated, the rallyists threw back the stones to the police. I also saw at least two policemen who got hit by the stones and they also fell like logs despite their helmets. Stones all overhead, at least 20 stones flying at a time, and I was at the very frontline. Chaos sparked. Teargas and water canons hit the rallyists all over the place. We were just sitting on the floor -- it was the police who started the bloody fight.

At 8AM, ceasefire, then there was two hours of silence. Gradually, a long row of policemen, escorted by two heavily armed Military, marched slowly in the middle of the road, slowly slicing through the ranks of the rallyists. At that point, I knew that a harsh dispersal is gonna happen any moment. I slowly walked out, after a three kilometer walk though the ranks of the rallyists, i finally found a jeepney to San Juan. Then I ride a taxi and by 10AM I am back home.

I watched the television and by 11AM the police and military dispersed the rallyists. There was frustration and violence all over. It was like a civil war, a large scale riot, the masses were barehanded against the cops and military who have guns. The rallyists burned the cars out of frustration. Before sunset Metro Manila is already declared by Gloria Arroyo as under State of Rebellion.

On TV, I saw a lot of people got arrested after that. Prominent people.

By the way, During EDSA 3, I was the one who wrote instruction order in one piece of paper, photocopied it to 500 pieces of fliers, and distributed it to the rallyists to tell them that the assembly of the march to Malacanang will be at 12MN of April 30, 2001. I did it because I was already impatient, the people speaking on stage everyday and the entertainment just keep on coming morning till night for over a week already and nothing is happening. No elite on stage did have the balls to give orders to command the march. You can see Butch Aquino there, Miriam Santiago, Gringgo Honasan, Ping Lacson etc etc but none of them really said the WORD OF ORDER and the COMMAND TO CHARGE.

I used the codename TIRGAS after that riot and built a website about the Prople Power 3. While I watch TV at home, everyday prominent people were arrested by the GMA administration. They even wanted to arrest Miriam Santiago and she said she will shoot anyone who will attempt to arrest her. My wife convinced me to go away to hide because who knows I could have been be identified at the front line. I agreed to her and purged all electronic documents and websites and destroyed all paper trace. I hid in Batanes Island, and was able to catch up the May 2001 Elections there.

The only memorabilia I have with People Power 3 is my construction helmet, some pictures (without me because I am the one who shoot the pix), and the anti-riot police shield that I got as trophie after fighting barehanded with the police at the frontline.

After EDSA 3, all ERAP supporters got scattered. We were defeated. We all hid in our separate ways. My boss in NEDA, Socio-Economic Planning Secretary Philip Medalla went back teaching in UP Diliman. I went back to real estate brokerage.

I hate it when media spin the terms and always say "MGA NAG-IIDOLO KAY ERAP". I hate the word "idolo", it's a twisted spin and just not fair. We don't like Erap because he is an actor. We like him because he is pro-poor.

In 2008, President Cory Aquino admitted participation in EDSA-Dos and apologized to President Estrada. Cory is lucky that she still had chance to apologize before she died. That apology made Cory Aquino a real hero.

EDSA Dos was an elite-led widely participated and effective political mudsling against President Estrada. During EDSA-2, you could not use your cellphone in Ortigas because all cellphone networks were congested. Cellphones were not yet very affordable to the poor at that time. Elite people were all over the place, that's why cellphone network was congested.

Edsa Tres was 99% initiated and insisted by the poor masses, the underdogs of society, and they came in spontaneously and individually. The picture above is a sample. Very simple-dressed people were there. Vendors, taxi drivers, out of school youth, farmers, old-folks. The whole EDSA-3 smelt bad because many of the rallyists don't have a place to stay in Manila, they have not taken a bath the entire one week-long rally. Just like me, there were many good samaritans who give away hard-boiled eggs, and pandesal, and steamed banana. But there were also opportunistic GMA sympathisers who gave away rotten spaghetti and contaminated water that food-poisoned some rallyists, forcing them to go home. It was hell out there and I was there the whole time the whole week -- pero umuuwi rin ako para maligo at matulog ng konti, tapos balik na naman sa site. And I have seen tears fell from my wife's eyes everytime I bid farewell.

The frustration of EDSA-Tres is the end of poor-mass-based rally in the streets. After EDSA-3, the masses will never again join the Elites in rallies.

After EDSA-3, all other attempts to consolidate the masses to oust the corrupt administration of GMA has failed. Hyatt ten never got the sympathy of the masses when thay attempted to show their Black and White Movement protest in Bay Walk. The Marine Stand off by Quirubin never attracted the support of masses. The Oakwood Mutineers never attracted the sympathy of the masses.

History is written by the Elites. You search the internet and bookstores, there is almost no articles and pictures about the People Power 3. Why? Because as I said, the Elites were not there.
